Coronavirus vaccination site to open at Bolton Wanderers stadium

A new vaccination site is set to open at the University of Bolton Stadium, and is to be led by a local pharmacy. Hootons Pharmacy, part of the Whittle Pharmacies group and based in Lee Lane, Horwich, is expected to begin vaccinating at the home of Bolton Wanderers Football Club from Thursday, January 28. This is set to become the latest pharmacy-operated site in Greater Manchester, which were announced by the government this week. Called the ‘Hootons Pharmacy at the Bolton Wanderers’ site, it will initially be vaccinating people aged 75 and over, and who have received a letter inviting them to book an appointment.

Bradford health bosses set out ambitious plan to vaccinate ALL adults by July - but will it happen?

AMBITIOUS plans proposed by Bradford health bosses to vaccinate the whole of the district’s population could be limited by the “changing nature” of the national programme. The plan, set out in a report dated January 12 and due to be discussed by councillors next week, said the aim was to vaccinate all over-50s registered with a GP in the Bradford and Craven district by March and over-18s by July, with a deadline of June 30 to give all cohorts their second jabs. A total of 25,530 vaccines would be needed per week to hit the target. The report even indicated that Rimmington’s Pharmacy in Bradford city centre, which has been designated as a Community Pharmacy Vaccination Centre by NHS England, could begin vaccinating the 18-49 cohort as early as Monday, January 25.

Mass vaccination site at Worcester church to open imminently

The NHS is not used to being held accountable but it MUST be if we are to ever beat Covid

But it seems that, despite another ten large vaccination centres opening up around the UK this week, the last few days have seen a decrease in the number of people being jabbed. And one GP has ‘revealed’ that some over-80s may have missed their opportunity to go to a GP run clinic because they are only being sent text messages about appointments. I use inverted commas around the word ‘revealed’ because actually the majority of GPs – via commissioning groups and bodies called Primary Care Networks – signed up to this process. It’s certainly much quicker than sending out letters or calling each and every patient on a list, but it doesn’t require a huge intellect to realise that sending a bunch of 80 and overs a text message wasn’t going to deliver 100 per cent results.
