Giving the vaccine where it is needed Care home residents across Windsor and Maidenhead were vaccinated with the first dose of the Covid vaccination over the weekend. This work was carried out by the three local Primary Care Networks across the borough: Ascot Primary Care Network, Maidenhead Primary Care Network and Windsor Primary Care Network. In a joint statement the Primary Care Network Clinical Directors; Dr Prash Patel (Ascot Primary Care Network), Dr Amandeep Dosanjh (Maidenhead Primary Care Network), and Dr Sufian Jabbar and Dr Edward Harrison (Windsor Primary Care Network) said: “This is the biggest vaccination programme the NHS has ever undertaken. We are delighted that our teams of doctors, nurses and pharmacists were able to offer the first dose of the vaccination to our care homes where some of our most at-risk residents live.
RAMPING UP: Primary Care Networks across north Cumbria are increasing their delivery of vaccines and this includes working with care homes. Picture: North Cumbria CCG (January 12, 2021) NINE sites are now delivering coronavirus vaccinations to the over 80s and care home residents and staff in north Cumbria. All eight Primary Care Networks (PCN) - groups of GP Practices working together in local areas - are delivering the jab to those that need it. The vaccine is now being delivered from nine locations. Most people are now within 10 miles of a vaccination centre, Cumbria s director of public health, Colin Cox said. Teams are also visiting local care homes and the homes of housebound patients and those with mobility issues, to ensure the most vulnerable residents get their jabs.
The Chief Medical Officer has warned that we are facing perhaps our most serious moment yet in the battle against coronavirus and has called on the British public to play their part by continuing to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. No one wanted to see these further restrictions imposed, but the speed with which this new variant is spreading is both frustrating and alarming. I have spoken with leaders from our local health services about the huge pressure that rising infection rates are putting on the NHS. They are doing fantastic work, but it is clear that we must do all we can to tackle the new variant of this horrible virus.
