Share Director-General of the forum of governors on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has called for caution over the face-off between the federal and the Ondo State government on the ultimatum issued by the latter to herdsmen to vacate the Ondo State Government Forest Reserves. The Ondo State government in a statement had asked herdsmen to vacate Forest Reserves in Ondo State within seven days as well as banning night-grazing with immediate effect. Presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Sheu, in a counter-statement had urged the herdsmen to disregard the order as he claimed that it breached the fundamental rights of the targeted herdsmen.

PGF DG asks APC leaders to audit party Secretariat for efficiency of personnel

Lukman, has asked the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to embark on an immediate audit of the party Secretariat, saying that this will ensure efficiency of the personnel of the party. In a statement issued yesterday by the Director General, he said the audit of the party’s national secretariat will strengthen its bureaucratic capacity towards national development. According to him, “there is the need to undertake an audit of what currently exists as the party’s Secretariat, its functions and personnel. “For instance, how is it structured to provide services to the APC as provided by the constitution of the party? Are there supportive rules provided for the operations of the party bureaucracy? How effective has the application of those rules be? What is required to strengthen the rules guiding the discharge of functions of the Secretariat?

PGF DG wants APC institutionalised

Lukman said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. He said the efforts will be in line with President Muhammadu Buhari`s request after the verdict of Presidential Election Tribunal, affirming his victory at the Feb. 23, 2019 presidential election. “As loyal party members, we should be able to appeal to our leaders to respect the wishes of the president by taking necessary steps to institutionalise the party, which is about the development of its bureaucracy,’’ he said.
