This disease, which is colloquially known as black fungus, will now be treated for free in Maharashtra, in combination with the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Scheme. “Irrespective of whether any person in the state is a cardholder or not, all would be eligible for the treatment under the MJPJAY, in selected hospitals,” said the government, adding that “there would be a capping on the expenses for Mucormycosis treatment. Non-governmental hospitals would not raise astronomical bills.”
