It is that time of year in India, when all eyes and ears turn to the Finance Minister to learn what she will unveil in the annual Union Budget. But it is a moot point whether, even in a year of the novel coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis, that speech will be of much significance. Indeed, it could be argued that there may be little point in listening to or poring over a speech that is likely to conceal more than it reveals.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has offered a slew of government jobs, including those to migrant workers who returned during lockdown in state.
Navneet Sehgal, additional chief secretary of Information department, has clarified that around four lakh permanent jobs in the government sector in total have been offered since 2017.
To manage the issue of the migrant workers returning to Uttar Pradesh during the COVID-19 lockdown, a migration commission was set up, which maintained records about the number of migrants entering the state. The commission found that 45 lakh migrants came to the state. Also, skill mapping was carried out in a bid to provide appropriate jobs. Of which, about 27.28 lakh migrants were given jobs in 11 lakh industries comprising small and medium-sized. Besides, migrants provided employment under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment

The BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the State have launched various welfare schemes to benefit a cross-section of people, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Umesh Katti has said. He added that the BJP governments are committed to protecting the interest of the farming community.
After unfurling the tri-color and inspecting the 72nd Republic Day parade at the District Armed Reserve Police Grounds in Kalaburagi on Tuesday, Mr. Katti said that the Centre has implemented different schemes to revive the agriculture sector and to improve the economic conditions of farmers.
