Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 8 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday elaborated on his tweet referring to Aurangabad as Sambhaji Nagar asking what was new in what he had done as Mughal emperor Aurangazeb was not secular and did not fit into the secular agenda.
Speaking to media when asked regarding the CMO tweet, Thackeray said, What s new in what I have done on Twitter? Aurangzeb was not secular so Aurangzeb does not fit in the secular agenda.

Mumbai: Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi has dared Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to change the name of Maharashtra after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Amid a row over the name change of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar, the SP MLA wrote to Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar urging them to change the name of the state after the great Maratha warrior or Swarajya , the reference to his kingdom.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has written to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri requesting him to change the name of Aurangabad airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Amid a tussle between the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)Â over renaming Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday urged the Centre to change the name of Aurangabad airport too.Â
In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Thackeray said that the Cabinet has approved changing the name of Aurangabad airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. It further stated that a resolution regarding it has also been passed in both houses of state assembly.Â

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], January 7 (ANI): Amid a row over the name change of Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar, the SP MLA Abu Azmi wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar urging them to stop politics around changing the name of Aurangabad. These days, politics is being played by changing the name of Aurangabad. If changing the name (of a city) helps in its development, then names must be changed. but in that case, Raigad should be named Sambhajinagar and Maharashtra be named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was an idol of the harmony between Hindus and Muslims, Azmi said in a letter written on January 5.
The Maharashtra cabinet had in March 2020 decided to rename the Aurangabad Airport after Sambhaji Maharaj.

MUMBAI: Amid a row over the demand to change the name of Aurangabad, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday urged the Centre to issue a notification at the earliest for renaming the Aurangabad Airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
Thackeray has written a letter to this effect to Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
In the letter, the chief minister has told Puri about the state cabinet s decision to rename the airport after Chhatrapati SambhajiMaharaj, son of Maratha warrior king Shivaji Maharaj.
