Mumbai: In a major development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others in connection with allegations made by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The agency is conducting searches at various places. After the Preliminary Enquiry against Deshmukh got complete, a report was submitted to the CBI Director. We have now registered an FIR in the said matter and are conducting searches. The decision to register an FIR was done following the evidences and documents provided by those who were questioned during the enquiry, said a CBI official.
It is in connection with allegations made by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday registered a first information report (FIR) against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others in connection with allegations made by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
CBI is also conducting searches at various places in connection with the case.
Deshmukh had resigned from his post after the Bombay High Court directed the CBI to initiate an inquiry within 15 days into the allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
The court also directed the agency to register an FIR if any cognisable offence is found. Deshmukh had filed the Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the apex court, challenging Bombay High Court`s April 5 order.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case and is conducting searches in connection with the corruption allegations involving former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, according to an agency official. The searches are being carried out at various places, said the official on Saturday. The agency had earlier initiated a preliminary enquiry into the allegations, following a directive from the Bombay High Court. The statement of Mr. Deshmukh was earlier recorded by the probe team.
