Teen charged in Sterling Heights fatal crash
The youth was arraigned Monday at 41A District Court in Sterling Heights on four charges:
• Felony murder, punishable by life without parole
• Second-degree murder, a felony punishable by up to life in prison
• Fleeing a police officer, first degree, a 15-year felony
• Second-degree fleeing a police officer, a 10-year felony
Prosecutors allege the teen, a Detroit resident who has not been identified, was speeding late Thursday in a Jeep Grand Cherokee believed to have been stolen from Jim Riehl’s Friendly Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram in Romeo.
At 15 Mile and Van Dyke in Sterling Heights, the Jeep sparked a three-car crash, the Macomb County Prosecutor s Office said.

Woman dead after Jeep stolen from Macomb County car dealership crashes into her
Four vehicles were stolen from a Macomb County car dealership Thursday night. One of those vehicles crashed into a woman s vehicle, killing her.
Angelo Rickey Smith, of Detroit, was arraigned Monday on charges of homicide and fleeing a police officer.
The defendant had been traveling at a high rate of speed after he and three other men had broken into a dealership in Washington and made off with four vehicles. The break-in spurred a police investigation spanning several cities.
A group of Macomb County women called Tuesday for Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido to resign, arguing he is unfit because of “inappropriate workplace behavior” and association with “sexual predators and their defenders.”
Three representatives of the Macomb Accountability Project, a self-described grassroots organization, called for the former state lawmaker to step down during a virtual news conference.
“We are calling for Peter Lucido to resign,” said one of the women, Emily Mellits of Washington Township.
“… We will not be silent any longer,” she said. “Enough is enough.”
Lucido, who faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment while serving in the state Senate, described the group s effort against him Tuesday as disingenuous and a ploy.

An initial investigation has determined that calls made about an active shooter situation were set up by a Dakota High School student.
Around 1:30 p.m. April 19, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Dakota High School in Macomb Township for an active shooter incident.
“Multiple deputies responded and cleared the building finding no evidence of any type of shooting,” an April 20 Sheriff’s Office press release states. “All students and staff, who had gone into a school lock down, were safe and unharmed.”
Police say that dispatch received a call from a male stating he had been shot in his home. The male then gave Dakota’s address as the address where he had been shot. The caller then ended the call.
Three people were arrested early Tuesday after an attempted carjacking in St. Clair Shores that led to a police chase into Wayne County, investigators said.
A resident told officers he was pulling into his driveway in the 20900 block of Yale at about 1:30 a.m. when a white vehicle neared. A male got out with a long gun and ordered him to hand over the keys to his vehicle; the victim dropped them on the ground then ran, police said.
The suspect failed to start the vehicle and fled the scene, but the victim called 911 and provided the description of the car he was in.
