Anti-lockdown rallies have been held in uptown Waterloo for weeks, with People's Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier expected to attend one set for this weekend in the southern Ontario region. Local officials are urging people not to go, with warnings police and bylaw officials will ticket offenders.
Thousands March in Toronto Against Lockdowns
Thousands of people marched in downtown Toronto on May 15 to call for an end to COVID-19 lockdown measures.
The protest was part of the “World Wide Rally for Freedom” that was marked in other Canadian cities as well, including Ottawa.

“The government is simply not listening and the media is not letting up. While this protest is not going to change everything, showing up in numbers will show that the consensus is shifting and send a clear signal to the rest of the population that it is time to: END THE LOCKDOWN!” says the Facebook page for the Toronto event.

Saskatchewan Justice Minister Gord Wyant says the province is going to get more aggressive when it comes to people who don’t pay their COVID-19 tickets.
During Question Period on Monday, Wyant was asked by the NDP about putting a mandatory minimum fine in place for those who violate public health orders. Wyant said he didn’t believe initiating something like that would deter those individuals who are determined to break the rules.
However, Wyant did say other options are on the table for those who are ticketed for violating public health orders and who won’t pay up.
