A 28-year-old man who allegedly tried to end his life was saved by the prompt response of police, at R.K. Beach here on Thursday.
Ritesh Singh (28), a resident of Gajuwaka area, had allegedly tried to end his life by drowning in the sea opposite Kali Matha temple, at around 1 p.m. Noticing him, Marine Police head constable V. Chinna Rao, constable Lakshmana Kumar and swimmer K. Raju rushed into the water and brought him ashore.
Police learnt that Ritesh allegedly tried to end his life over financial issues. Later, the police took him to III Town police station for counselling. He was handed over to his family members later.

7,201 challans generated against motorists
The city police have booked as many as 133 cases against persons who were allegedly moving out by violating COVID-19 norms. The police teams also generated as many as 7,201 challans against motorists, allegedly found moving at various public places, commercial establishments, hotels and a few other places.
Meanwhile, the police also generated challans against 86 persons for moving out without masks. All these cases were booked in between May 23 (5 p.m.) and May 25 (5 p.m.).
Police Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha requested people not to come out except for emergency and medical purposes during curfew hours and support police to contain spread of coronavirus.

City police gear up to enforce restrictions

The city police are all set to impose the restrictions from Wednesday, according to the orders issued by the State government, in wake of the surge in COVID -19 cases.
According to the orders, Cr Pc Section 144 will be imposed from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 12 p.m., movement will be restricted.
Only shops selling essential supplies will be allowed to open after 12 p.m. and movement of people will be restricted, said Police Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha.
Employees working in the Central Public Sector Units (CPSU) and the State government sector, essential services and IT and ITES will be allowed to move and they have to carry their ID cards.

A car and a phone was seized from Bhargav, say police
Social media personality Chippada Bhargav alias ‘Fun Bucket Bhargav’ was arrested by the Disha police on the charges of allegedly raping a minor girl that resulted in her pregnancy.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Disha police station) Ch. Prem Kajal said that the accused is well-known in the social media for his various viral videos and uploads. On April 16, Pendurthi police received a complaint stating that Bhargav, a native of Vizianagaram and resident of Hyderabad, had allegedly raped a minor girl.
