PARKERSBURG Two Davisville residents were arrested after attempting to steal a catalytic converter from a vehicle in the south side Lowe’s parking lot.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court, last October, Scott Dewayne Bush, 41, 47 Elm St., Davisville, and Crystal Nichole Ventimiglia, same address, were involved in the incident.
Bush and another man cut off and attempted to steal two catalytic converters valued at more than $1,000 and caused damage in the process, the complaint said.
Photos taken showed the damage that affected oxygen sensors and heat shields valued at more than $2,500, the complaint said.
PARKERSBURG Drug sales and a stolen vehicle were among charges from this week’s arrests.
On Thursday, law enforcement responded to Ohio River Outdoors on Emerson Avenue following a call about a shoplifting, according to a criminal complaint filed in Wood County Magistrate Court.
Shawn Douglas Bowman, 29, 229 Franklin St., Marietta, was arrested after he was found with methamphetamine and fentanyl at the scene, according to the complaint. Bowman and three others were allegedly trying to steal items before realizing they were being watched and put the items back, the complaint said.
Law enforcement was notified one of the members of the group used drugs inside the restroom of the business, the complaint said.

PARKERSBURG Two Parkersburg men were arrested following separate incidents involving the possession of child pornography and a stolen vehicle.
Mark Ronald Barnard, 68, 1908 19th St., Parkersburg, was found with pornography after several cybertips to law enforcement, according to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court.
Following a search warrant in May 2020, computers were searched and Barnard admitted to looking at child pornography on the computer at his residence, the complaint said.
“There is children and teenagers and it’s hard to tell the difference sometimes, but I have looked at child porn,” Barnard said as stated in the criminal complaint.

PARKERSBURG A Parkersburg man is facing multiple charges in connection with several separate acts of schemes and forgery affecting many victims in the area.
Wood County Magistrate Court records say Melvin Lee Romeo, 43, 801 Pike St., Parkersburg has been fraudulently buying and selling property and has received an unknown amount of money from several victims.
On some occasions, Romeo has attempted to buy property but doesn’t pay for it; he then claims to own it and tries to sell it to someone else.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Wood County Magistrate Court, Romeo had an agreement with Victim A last June in regard to a property sale including pieces of land and cleaning equipment and vehicles from a local business.
