According to a joint press release from the Minneapolis Police Department and the Hennepin County Sheriff s Office, 46 people were arrested, including 69 felony level charges, following a sting operation that began Jan. 26 and went through Jan. 28. During the operation, which included officers from the MPD, deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff s Office Violent Offender Task Force and air support from the Minnesota State Patrol, authorities found 15 firearms and 12 stolen vehicles, according to the release.

Author: A Minneapolis man is accused of beating his girlfriend to death in their home on Nov. 17, 2020.  Almanzo Cotton, 39, was arrested Wednesday morning in Illinois and charged with second-degree murder in connection to the death of 54-year-old Kim Theng at their home on the 3300 block of Sheridan Avenue North in Minneapolis, the Hennepin County Attorney s Office announced Thursday. He ll make his first court appearance when he returns from Illinois.  According to the criminal complaint, Cotton called 911 at 9:21 a.m. on Nov. 17 to report a burglary at his home and then quickly hung up. A few minutes later, he called 911 again to say he got home to find Theng lying on the floor, and he left immediately.

County attorney calls out MN Freedom Fund, charges man bailed out twice By FOX 9 Staff (FOX 9) - The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office publicly called out the Minnesota Freedom Fund for bailing out a man it charged with three new felonies Thursday. According to a release from county attorney Mike Freeman’s office, the Minnesota Freedom Fund posted a $5,000 and a $60,000 bail for Thomas Moseley, 29, in two previous cases.  Minnesota nonprofit with $35M bails out those accused of violent crimes . The latest arrest was at a George Floyd protest Oct. 15 at Hennepin County Government Center. There, he was charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine, psilocin mushrooms and a firearm. Prosecutors are asking for $250,000 in bail for Moseley after the latest arrest.

Author: Angelique Simons, 47, of Minneapolis, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Joseph Pixley, 40, on Jan. 22.  Hours before, Prince Brown, 36, of Minneapolis, allegedly fatally shot David Spicer, 38, on Brown s birthday, Jan. 21. He is charged with second-degree unintentional murder. They both were expected to make their first court appearances in Hennepin County District Court on Tuesday.   Fatal stabbing Simons on Jan. 22 told Pixley to come to a home on the 2000 block of Queen Ave. N., with Pixley arriving shortly before 4 a.m., charges state.
