The director of the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy, Dale Woolery, says Saturday is another “National Drug Take Back Day.” “In hundreds of different communities across Iowa this Saturday from 10 until 2, there will be special collection sites,” Woolery says. He says there’s been progress in not overprescribing painkillers that can end up in the wrong hands but he says there are still cases of leftover medications.

WHIZ News Local Health Department to host National Drug Take Back Day MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department is hosting its Drug Take Back Day tomorrow. If you have any unused or expired medication, this is the perfect time to come and properly dispose of them. On Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., The Health Department will be having a drive-thru drop off where they will be accepting any prescriptions, over the counter tablets, capsules and liquid dosages, as well as injectables and needles. Muskingum Behavioral Health is one of six businesses partnering in the event. “We want to get the controlled substances out of people’s homes so they don’t accidentally or intentionally end up on the street. We want to get the sharps taken care of because we don’t want people, the needles going into the trash or disappearing for folks,” Muskingum Behavioral Health CEO Steve Carrel said.

Spectrum Health Healthier Communities, Priority Health and Families Against Narcotics Grand Rapids Chapter have teamed up once again to collect unused and unwanted prescription drugs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Spectrum Health Healthier Communities (Widdicomb Building), 665 Seward Ave. NW, and Spectrum Health Medical Group South Pavilion, 80 68 th Street SE, both in Grand Rapids. The same day, the city of Wyoming and Metro Health-University of Michigan Health will help households across their community dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications safely and properly.
