On Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office along with the police departments of Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Waldoboro, and Wiscasset will host the semi-annual Drug Take Back Day.
This medication disposal event has been offered every spring and fall for the last 10 years with a goal to prevent prescription drug misuse and theft. Everyone is invited to bring in expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for safe disposal, no questions asked. This national event is sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency, local law enforcement and community health partners. The service is free and anonymous. Please wear a mask at the disposal sites.
Arkansans are being encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring any unused or expired medications to one of the stateâs more than 250 Prescription Drug Take Back Day drop-off locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24.
In Ashley County drop-off sites include Crossett Police Department, Bakerâs Pharmacy, Gammelâs Pharmacy, and Portland Drug.
âCleaning out medicine cabinets and turning the expired, unused medications over to law enforcement during a Drug Take Back event will save lives,â said Attorney General Leslie Rutledge. âIt is important now more than ever that we continue to properly dispose of these prescription drugs.â
Bangor, Maine News Update: April 20, 2021
The Maine CDC reports 272 new cases of COVID-19 and 2 people, diagnosed with the virus, who have died. The department of economic and community development says permitted occupancy limits in public buildings will rise to 75% on May 24th.
University of Maine Police updated their previous alert on Monday, saying there is no indication of any active threat against the university community. The alert was sent out over the weekend, in response to an alleged threat that was posted on social media. Officials say there s no indication that the threat s alleged author, Afshin Zarechian, was ever in the area.
LAVA Community Support Walk At Ashley Pond April 24

Ashley Pond Park, including the stage area, will be used for the Los Alamos Victim Assistant (LAVA) Community Support Walk 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 24. The community is invited to attend this event.
To follow social-distancing requirements, directional signage will be placed to allow one-way foot traffic around the sidewalks in the park, and masks are required. Sign-in will occur at the stage area.
Walkers can utilize parking at 20th Street and Trinity Drive, on the southeast side of the pond, as the Library Overflow Parking lot, the Justice Center North Parking lot will be closed for resurfacing. The southwest pond parking lot (Justice Center) will be closed for use 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the Drug Take Back drive-through event.
Tennessee American Water, Hamilton County Coalition & Others Announce Upcoming Drug Take Back Tuesday, April 20, 2021 The Bi-Annual National Drug Take Back will be held this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event provides residents the opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted medications. Residents may simply drive to a Drug Take Back location, where a law enforcement or volunteer wearing masks will take the medications for proper disposal. The service which is free and anonymous helps to prevent misuse and abuse of medications while protecting local water sources. Collected medications are incinerated, which is the Environmental Protection Agency’s recommended approach for pharmaceutical disposal. Flushing medications down the toilet and throwing them in the trash are discouraged.
