As the pandemic’s third wave continues to strike fear, the demand for coronavirus vaccine appears to have taken a steady upturn in the province of Sindh, including Karachi. In response to which, over 20 private hospitals and laboratories across the province had duly sought the government’s green-light to start inoculating within their own facilities.
Apex court instructs PIA chairman to sack unnecessary staff

The Supreme Court on Thursday summoned the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman to explain why the authority had paid in cash for the Covid-19-related equipment and chartered a plane to have them flown into the country.
In its detailed verdict in the suo motu coronavirus case, the apex court also issued directions to the PIA chairman to remove unnecessary staff.
The court observed that it was told during the hearing of the case that the government had formed a committee to look into the feasibility of reactivating a unit of the Pakistan Steel Mills for oxygen production.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan will issue no-objection certificates within 24 hours permitting private organisations to import COVID-19 vaccines, said CEO Dr Asim Rauf on Thursday.
Private companies, hospitals and civil society organisations will be facilitated âout of queueâ if they fulfill all DRAP requirements, he said at a press conference in Islamabad.
The way to import the vaccine is explained on the DRAP website.

Karachi: DRAP recovers large quantity of raw material used to make medicines

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) late Tuesday recovered a large quantity of raw material used in the making of medicines in Karachi, officials said.
The officials conducted the raid at a warehouse in the port city s Korangi Industrial Area. DRAP officials said they had confiscated the material that is used in the illegal manufacturing of medicines. This was a big operation conducted by DRAP, the officials said. Per sources, bigwigs of the pharmaceutical industry are reportedly involved in the act.
