Non-fixing of corona vaccines price despite undertaking: SHC issues show cause notices to officials

National April 28, 2021 KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday took exception over non-fixation of COVID-19 vaccination prices by the federal government and issued show cause notices to secretary Cabinet Division, secretary health and chief executive officer (CEO) of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) for not complying the court directives. Hearing lawsuit of a pharma company against drug regulatory authority’s notification with regard to withdrawal of exemption in COVID-19 vaccines import to the extent of 1 million doses of Sputnik-V, SHC’s single bench headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar inquired federal law officer about the fixation of COVID-19 vaccines price by the DRAP as undertook by the federal government on previous hearing.

ISLAMABAD: Living up to the nation’s expectations amid the third coronavirus wave, Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) announced it has indigenously developed its own intensive care unit (ICU) ventilator named “i-LIVE”. According to a news release, the ventilator has been developed by a team of scientists and engineers from PAEC who have applied in its manufacturing all the essential quality standards and regulatory requirements, whereas doctors from PAEC Hospital in Islamabad provided valuable input during its development process. Besides passing through all internal reviews and testing, the “i-LIVE” ventilator also successfully passed independent reviews and testing conducted throughout the development lifecycle by the evaluation team from Pakistan Innovation and Technology Center (PITC), Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

Volunteers invited to participate in vaccine trials Islamabad April 24, 2021 Islamabad : The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) is the first public sector university in Islamabad to become a DRAP-approved site for Phase III clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine. SZABMU-PIMS is now becoming part of a multicentre phase III study for COVID-19 vaccine ZF2001. These trials have been approved by National Bioethics Committee (NBC) Pakistan and Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP). Prof. Dr. Tanwir Khaliq, Vice Chancellor of SZAMBU, expressed these views during a briefing given to Secretary Health Aamir Ashraf Khwaja when he visited the university here on Friday.
