The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. when a white Honda CRV was traveling north on Murdoch near the traffic island in the 2600 block, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said. Warren Earl Moyer Jr., 41, of Parkersburg, was crossing the road from the west side, not in a crosswalk, when he was hit and dragged a distance, Martin said. The vehicle left the scene. “He (Moyer) was walking home from work,” the chief said. The man was taken from the scene to WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Martin said.

ebevins@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG A Belpre man died after a shooting Saturday on DuPont Road, Wood County Sheriff Steve Stephens said. According to a release from the Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched around 10:20 p.m. Saturday to a shots fired call at JT’s Auto LLC at 1567 DuPont Road, Parkersburg. They found 39-year-old Edward Lee Tice II, of Belpre, on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center, Stephens said. Investigation revealed that during a party, there was an altercation between Tice and Thomas C. Burdette, 27, of Parkersburg, that led to the shooting, the release said.

bdunlap@newsandsentinel.com PARKERSBURG Both the WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center and Marietta Memorial Hospital are continuing to see an increase in COVID-19 cases as numbers continue to rise nationwide, officials said. “(Camden Clark) is not currently at capacity and reports 53 hospitalized COVID-19 positive patients as of Dec. 9,” said MarJean Kennedy, vice president Marketing Development, and Strategic Initiatives. “The organization continues to manage patient flow following its surge plan to continuously maximize the capability to handle an increase in patient census, critical care demands, ventilator requirements and workforce challenges. “Additionally, we continue to increase our dedicated COVID unit capacity as we expect these volumes to continue increasing over the next few weeks. We are making decisions daily to balance access, staffing, and safety for all patients requiring care,” she said.
