Ohio man dead in Parkersburg shooting By

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. Parkersburg police say an Ohio man was killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in the city and a homicide investigation is underway.
According to the department, an Akron man was shot at 4420 17th Ave. in Parkersburg and died a short time after at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center.
The victim was shot in the back shortly after 2 p.m. and was still alive when first transported to the hospital.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) A West Virginia man who stabbed a neighbor and then charged at a responding officer with a weapon has been fatally shot, police said.
Officers were called to Oakwood Village apartments Sunday and found a 60-year-old woman outside her apartment with “multiple stab wounds, Parkersburg Police Chief Joe Martin said. The suspect, Rufus James Ramsey III, 34, was found outside his apartment still armed with what Martin described as “basically a meat cleaver.
Martin told The Parkersburg News and Sentinel that Ramsey initially dropped the weapon, but then picked it up and rushed at an officer, who shot him.

CHARLESTON A Parkersburg man pleaded guilty on Tuesday to distribution of child pornography, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia said.
Timothy Paul Rapson, 39, admitted to distributing child pornography on Dec. 31, 2019, using a peer-to-peer file sharing program, the office of the U.S. Attorney said. The investigation further revealed that Rapson possessed over 73,000 images and videos of prepubescent child pornography, the office said.
Rapson pleaded guilty to distribution of prepubescent minor child pornography and faces up to 20 years in prison when sentenced on July 26, the office said.
Acting United States Attorney Lisa G. Johnston made the announcement and cited the investigative work of the Parkersburg Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Julie M. White is handling the prosecution.
