Former Swiss President joins Scots MP to ramp up pressure for Drug Consumption Rooms
Daily Record 6 hrs ago Mark McGivern
Scottish MP Ronnie Cowan and a former president of Switzerland are to ramp up the case for Drug Consumption Rooms in a showdown with the UK’s policing and drugs minister.
A meeting on Tuesday will see drugs decriminalisation campaigner Cowan and Ruth Dreifuss seek to turn Kit Malthouse away from the UK’s backward strategy on drugs, which has seen nothing but increases in death rates in recent years.
Dreifuss, now a commissioner with the Global Commission on Drugs Policy, was a big supporter of DCRs in Switzerland, where there are now 13 facilities in eight cities.
