At least, that was the case until now. Disney+ surprised fans on Thursday morning with an out of blue announcement that the Cinderella adaptation would be hitting the service on February 12 and the internet is having a ball! Many of the  inductees are Black leaders who have served in critical positions in the U.S. government some prominent, some lesser-known. All, however, have made powerful contributions to American life and history, from giving voice to enslaved Black people to making calculations vital to John Glenn’s historic space flight.

Telus celebrates Black History Month by donating rental costs of 50 films to Black charity Telus will donate up to $10,000 to the Black Health Alliance British Columbia-based carrier, Telus, is celebrating Black History Month by donating the full rental cost of 50 curated films that feature Black artists or Black history on its Telus Video on Demand library. The carrier says it will also donate up to $10,000 to The Black Health Alliance. The Black Health Alliance is a community-led charity that works to improve the health of Black communities of Canada. “At Telus, our team’s longstanding and passionate belief in the power and importance of diversity and inclusiveness is reflected in our collective commitment to social justice and equality within our organization and in the communities where we live, work and serve,” says Darren Entwistle, Telus’ CEO, in a recent press release.

Nichelle Nichols documentary Woman in Motion tells the story of a diverse NASA

I can t say I was a Star Trek fan growing up, but I, of course, knew of it and I watched all the movies and I knew who [Nichelle Nichols] was, but I had no idea of her involvement in NASA, admits director Todd Thompson, who spearheaded this movie after learning about Nichols work outside of her role as Uhura. Speaking with SYFY WIRE ahead of the February release of the documentary, which features interviews and testimonials from Nichols and a wide range of people associated with the Final Frontier, Thompson says one of the reasons he pursued the documentary was because he felt it was a story that not enough people knew about.
