Exploits University has started receiving applications from suitably qualified individuals for the 2021-2022 academic year, whose first semester will run from July to December 2021. The University’s marketing executive, Ashraf Partridge says the school is registering new cohorts for all programmes and is urging those who have done well in the just released Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) to pursue their studies at the “premier university”. He said Exploits University is “affordable and has highly qualified academics and they are actively engaged in research and the generation of new knowledge, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for over a decade now”.

Ticia Counseling Centre in collaboration with DMI-St John the Baptist University and the Ministry of Health and Population have expressed commitment to address shortage of psychosocial support providers through provision of high quality training in Counselling and Psychotherapy and HIV Testing and Testing Counselling. DMI St John the Baptist University Executive official of Ticia Counselling Centre, Patricia Singini, said on Friday that the Centre has since started receiving applications from candidates for the second intake of the training. Singini said the training is aimed at providing candidates with necessary knowledge, abilities and skills on best counselling and psychotherapy practice, adding that participants will receive certificates at the end of training.

MPS CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES REGISTER 50% PASS RATE

Malawi Prison Service (MPS) correctional facilities have registered a 50 percent past rate in the recently released Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) Examination results. MPS spokesperson Chimwemwe Shaba has confirmed the development saying 34 out of 68 inmates who sat for the 2020 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations have passed, representing a 50 percent pass rate. According to Shaba the highest inmate is from Mzuzu Prison who has scored 17 points. Shaba further said Zomba Central Prison has emerged overall performer out of the 19 correctional facilities after 10 out of 15 inmates passed the examinations. Meanwhile, in the just-released MSCE examination results, out of 138,310 students who sat for the examination, 57,293 passed representing 42 percent, a development that caused uproar amongst the stakeholder while questioning the standards of education in the country.
