A winter storm that hit the Mahoning Valley Wednesday afternoon left roads and highways slippery with numerous calls of accidents and traffic delays.
A Trumbull County 911 spokesman said they received numerous calls from throughout the area about vehicles off the sides of roads, especially off state Route 11 in the Girard and Liberty areas.
Girard police reported a semi truck hit a guardrail along Interstate 80 eastbound, east of U.S. Route 422. That section of the road was shut down for about an hour until the scene was cleared. There were no injuries reported.
Several communities also have issued snow bans to clear the snowfall from the roadws. Bans were issued for Bazetta until 9 a.m. today, Girard until noon Friday, Howland until 7 p.m. today, Hubbard until noon today, and Niles until 5 p.m. today in Trumbull County, and Youngstown until 9 p.m. today in Mahoning County.
