MONTGOMERY, Ala. An Alabama state trooper arrested last week on charges he raped an 11-year-old girl had been kicked out of the FBI amid a string of sexual misconduct allegations but was hired by the state agency with the apparent help of a fake bureau letter that scrubbed his record clean.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) An Alabama state trooper arrested last week on charges he raped an 11-year-old girl had been kicked out of the FBI amid a string of sexual misconduct allegations but was hired by the state agency with the apparent help of a fake bureau letter that scrubbed his record clean.
An Associated Press investigation found Christopher Bauer was suspended without pay and stripped of his security clearance in the FBI’s New Orleans office in late 2018 effectively fired amid allegations that included a co-worker’s claim that he raped her at knifepoint.

A Montgomery teen has been indicted on capital murder charges amid accusations he targeted witnesses who previously testified against him.
Elijah Reese, now 18, is indicted on three counts of capital murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with the separate killings of a man and a woman, and the wounding of another woman.
The indictments were issued April 12 and made public May 4.

A Pentagon Police officer who fatally shot two suspected burglars was indicted by a Maryland grand jury Friday on charges of murder and other crimes in two separate incidents, authorities said.
Montgomery County State s Attorney John McCarthy said Pentagon Force Protection Agency officer David Dixon will be tried on murder charges for the April 7 shooting deaths of Dominique Williams, 32, and 38-year-old James Johnson in Takoma Park.
Dixon also faces an attempted murder charge for allegedly shooting at 36-year-old Michael Thomas in that same incident, along with three counts each of assault and handgun offenses.
