Body pulled from Cumberland River ID d as man who went missing April 10

Clarksville NowCourtesy CPDChristopher Stewart, 47 CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The body found in the Cumberland River near the Smith Branch Boat Ramp just south of Clarksville on April 26 has been identified that of missing 47-year-old Christopher Stewart. Stewart was reported missing on April 20, and had not been heard from since April 10, when he was walking in the 500 block of Riverside Drive around 11 p.m., according to a news release from Clarksville Police Detective Michael Patterson. At about 3:25 p.m. on April 26, barge crews reported seeing a body in the river near the Smith Branch Boat Ramp, according to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sandra Brandon.

The state of Illinois reported that 30% of its adult population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 on a day when mask guidelines received a major update. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported that 3,835,491 people — 30.10% of the adult population — had received full inoculation against the virus with two shots of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The news is another sign of Illinois return to normality, coupled with new CDC recommendations on mask usage in outdoor settings. The agency said Tuesday that vaccinated people didn t need to wear masks outdoors if they were exercising, dining at a restaurant or attending small gatherings with family and friends, regardless of whether or not the people there were vaccinated. Masks are still recommended for large gatherings and indoor functions.

Jorge Arturo Mar Jr., 26, was convicted on charges of aggravated sexual assault. He will not be eligible for parole until 2041. A news release from Montgomery County authorities said that during trial, the state presented evidence that on August 1, 2018, Mar raped the woman at knifepoint in his vehicle in Spring. After the rape, Mar stole the woman’s phone and left her stranded.  The woman was eventually able to call 911, and deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded.
