50 years of honoring local history February 23 2021
The Bowman Museum collection has been compiled during the past half a century thanks to a generous community
When taking a look back at the 50 years since the A.R. Bowman Museum got its beginnings, it is obvious that not only did a lot take place, but a great and generous community made it all possible. One of the most recent hires at the museum put it very eloquently. Our collection system is really important because it helps us to keep track of when objects have been donated, and also who donated them and why they matter to Crook County. They aren t just nameless objects that we have, but they have a history, and they have an importance, indicated Sadee Moss, who serves as collections assistant.
Oregon Speaker of the House Tina Kotek said she believes the women and has from the beginning. The investigation report documents the experiences of women who have felt unsafe and feared retaliation from Representative Hernandez. This is serious and disturbing. I believed the women when they came forward last year and I believe them now, Kotek said. I m focused on doing everything I can to ensure the Capitol is a safe working environment and that people can do their work without the threat of harassment or retaliation.
The Oregon Education Association, among others, called for Hernandez to step down. In a statement, the association said: These abuses of power have made us lose our confidence in Rep. Hernandez and we believe that he can no longer effectively represent the members of his district.

The leadership swap comes at a time the Oregon GOP has gained national attention for passing a resolution claiming the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was a false flag operation by leftist forces.
A conservative state senator from Myrtle Creek is the new chair of the Oregon Republican Party, following an event Saturday in which Republicans overhauled their top party leadership.
According to multiple Republican sources, state Sen. Dallas Heard handily won the job, beating three-term chair and Adair Village Mayor Bill Currier.
Heard, 35, is just one in a slate of current and former Republican senators who now have a central role in steering the party s course. Former Senate Minority Leader Herman Baertschiger Jr., now a Josephine County commissioner, won a contested race for vice chair. And state Sen. Dennis Linthicum, R-Klamath Falls, will serve as party treasurer.
Biden s rescue plan promises big bucks for Oregon schools February 21 2021
President Joe Biden s American Rescue Plan would provide hundreds of millions to Oregon school districts, if passed.
President Joe Biden s stimulus package aims to provide a major boost and big bucks to Oregon school districts as they struggle to reopen safely.
While some may be focused on the $1,400 direct stimulus payments that will land in most individuals wallets as part of the proposed American Rescue Plan, the gigantic $1.6 trillion package also would offer hundreds of millions of dollars to local schools.
Budget resolutions have passed both the House and Senate, but in mismatched form, and therefore the plan must undergo a budget reconciliation process before the 600-page bill lands on Biden s desk.
