LONDON: Manchester City’s Premier League title celebrations were put on hold again as Manchester United fought back to win 3-1 at Aston Villa on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola’s side missed a chance to seal the title when they lost 2-1 to Chelsea on Saturday.
City could have started the party if second-placed United lost at Villa Park, but their arch-rivals kept the leaders’ champagne on ice with a second-half escape act.
Trailing to Bertrand Traore’s first half rocket, United equalised through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty before Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani netted to leave City frustrated.

A defeat for second-placed United, which is 10 points behind City with four games remaining, would hand its neighbor the title. Seeking to reignite its stuttering Champions League qualification hopes, fourth-placed Leicester could benefit from United’s packed end-of-season schedule. The game comes in the middle of a period of three league games in five days for United, which has had to fit in a rearranged match against Liverpool that was postponed on May 2 because of fan protests against the club’s American owners.
