Subscriber only A man who was arrested on Wednesday afternoon following an alleged string of offences including stealing cars and dangerous driving has faced court. Aaron John Robbie, 34, will remain in custody following his appearance in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday morning. Speaking to media on Thursday, Maroochydore Criminal Investigations Branch officer-in-charge Daren Edwards said the Mountain Creek man was arrested after police allege he threatened another man at knifepoint, demanding the keys to his vehicle at a Gardak Street address, before fleeing the scene on foot about 3.30pm on Wednesday. Senior Sergeant Edwards said Mr Robbie was apprehended a short distance away.

Subscriber only A motorcyclist who was allegedly caught doing wheelies at speeds above 200km/h along the Sunshine Motorway has faced court. Dylan Jay Cummins was stopped by officers from the Sunshine Coast road policing unit on March 23 after he was allegedly seen travelling at high speeds in wet conditions. The Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that police searched Mr Cummins Pacific Paradise home the next day, finding the motorbike and a hydroponic set-up with mature marijuana plants. Acting Inspector Shane Panoho said in March that Mr Cummins received a fine of $17,000 and lost 93 demerit points.

Subscriber only A woman who was sexually assaulted in her sleep by her best friend s partner has spoken of the betrayal and isolation she felt following the attack. The woman, then 29, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced her attacker in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday. She took the witness stand and read a powerful victim impact statement describing how she once was active and motivated but was now often too afraid to be outside alone. I panic every time a male comes near that I don t know, or an older man approaches, she said. The man, now 38, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful and indecent treatment and was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment to be served as an intensive correction order.

Subscriber only A former teacher and prominent water polo coach charged with distributing and possessing child exploitation material failed to appear at his first court mention. Dean Carelse, 40, was due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Mr Carelse was charged by officers from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection Unit for allegedly possessing and distributing child exploitation material following a raid on his Mooloolaba home. Police searched the former Matthew Flinders teacher s house on March 20 and seized a number of items. Appearing for Mr Carelse, defence lawyer Rachel Tallon told the court Mr Carelse was in regular contact while on bail.

A Caboolture South man who allegedly assaulted his brother in March causing his death has had his matters delayed after he was taken to hospital.
It is alleged Darren Adcock, 31, suffered a severe brain injury when he was punched by his brother, Christopher John Adcock, while at his niece‘s 8th birthday party in Landsborough at 4.30pm on March 11.
Mr Adcock, who was arrested in Rockhampton on March 12, was charged with grievous bodily harm – domestic violence offence and wilful damage. Christopher Adcock allegedly assaulted his brother.
He was also charged with four other offences including possessing dangerous drugs and unlawful possession of a weapon.
