Two people were charged after the St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office said they provided a man drugs that led to a fatal overdose.
Chance Thibodeaux, 29, of Arnaudville, and Tory Phillips, 30, of Lafayette, were arrested April 14 after an investigation by the sheriff s office determined they provided drugs to a man who overdosed and died, department spokesperson Capt. Ginny Higgins said in a release.
The man, who was not identified, was found dead on June 19 by deputies who were responding to a medical call in Arnaudville.
Thibodeaux and Phillips were both charged with second-degree murder, criminal conspiracy to distribute heroin and fentanyl and distribution of heroin and fentanyl.

LAFAYETTE, La. (KADN) - One man has been arrested and police are looking for another in connection with a shooting at Bourgeois Park.
According to University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police, Jayvien Jawane James Mallery, 20, was arrested Friday by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office. He is charged with one count of principal to second-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of carrying a firearm on school property.
ULPD officers transported Mallery to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for booking.
