Off-duty officer arrests man for allegedly shooting woman during argument

A Lowndes County man was arrested after an off-duty police officer heard him shoot an intimate partner during a domestic dispute.
Jordan Jennings, 29, of Sugg Road off Highway 69, was charged with domestic violence/aggravated assault. Police Chief Fred Shelton said Jennings began fighting with a woman he is dating at an apartment complex off 31st Avenue North in Columbus Sunday night.
The off-duty officer heard the couple arguing and then heard a gunshot and called 911, Shelton said. He then investigated the incident and arrested Jennings.
Felonies
The following people were booked into the Lee County-Tupelo Adult Jail in connection with felony charges ending Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Kendal Atkinson, 26, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriffâs Office, child exploitation.
Charles Brown Jr., 30, of Nettleton, was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, violation of probation.
Derrean Gordon, 24, of Tupelo, was arrested by the Mississippi Department of Corrections, violation of probation.
Joseph Wilson, 51, no address given, was arrested by the Lee County Sheriffâs Office, failure to register as a sex offender.

OXFORD - Evidence from security cameras helped Oxford police arrest an Oktibbeha County man, accused of breaking into cars.
A resident in 2600 block of West Oxford Loop reported May 17 that someone had broken into their car. Video surveillance was obtained from the area and investigators were able to identify a suspect vehicle. Patrol officers spotted a car matching the description later that day.
Police pulled over Octavious McMullen, 21, of Starkville, for a moving violation. He was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a weapon by a felon after a firearm and illegal narcotics were located inside the vehicle.
