The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 334 new cases of COVID-19 and five coronavirus-related deaths Wednesday.
Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 311,493 cases and 7,193 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.
According to a New York Times database Wednesday, at least 764 new coronavirus deaths and 51,938 new cases were reported in the U.S. on Tuesday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 53,803 cases per day, a decrease of 24% from the average two weeks earlier.
The health department on Wednesday reported 28 outbreaks at Mississippi nursing homes. There have been 10,442 cases of the coronavirus in long-term care facilities, and 1,974 deaths reported as of April 16, the latest figures available.

There were 53 new cases and 2 new deaths reported in South Mississippi on Wednesday.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLOX) - On Wednesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported a total of 334 new COVID-19 cases and five new deaths as of 3 p.m. the day before.
For the six southernmost counties, there were a total of 53 new cases and two new deaths reported Wednesday.
The new cases were in Harrison County (28), Jackson County (12), George County (6), Pearl River County (5), and Stone County (2). No new cases were reported in Hancock County.

JACKSON, Miss. (WTVA) - The Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 334 new COVID-19 cases and 5 new deaths on Wednesay, April 28.

As of Wednesday, April 28, there have been 311,493 total cases of the virus since mid-March, which is when the state reported its first case. There have been 7,193 total deaths.
