The Lee County sheriff says state investigators are looking into the death of a man whom deputies arrested on Tuesday.

TUPELO, Miss. (WTVA) - Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of a man whom deputies arrested on Tuesday.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies responded Tuesday to a domestic violence report at an unnamed location.
Deputies arrived and arrested an “irate male suspect,” the sheriff says. The sheriff did not identify the man.

Man beaten in jail fight dies of injuries; manslaughter charges pending against inmate

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. A man arrested for DUI and then beaten by a hardened criminal in the Jackson County jail has died and manslaughter charges are being brought against inmate Christopher Gholar, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said Monday.
Donald Ratcliff, 47, of Ocean Springs had been arrested by Ocean Springs police on a DUI charge and taken to the Jackson County Adult Detention Center on April 26. It was there deputies responded to a fight in one of the dayrooms, where they found Ratcliff unconscious.

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WLOX) - An inmate in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center has died after a fight last week with another inmate.
Donald Ratcliff, 47 of Ocean Springs, died Monday afternoon, said authorities.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said last week that Ratcliff was critically injured after a fight on April 26. He had been hospitalized at USA Medical Center in Mobile, Ala. since that time.
The other inmate involved in the fight - 27-year-old Christopher Gholar - currently has a manslaughter charge pending against him as a result of the death.
