LANSING, MICH. When it comes to camping, not everyone wants to rough it.
So in an effort to make the outdoors more available to all comfort levels and abilities, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has been expanding, diversifying and updating its overnight lodging options in many state parks and recreation areas.
Over the course of the past year, the DNR has added fresh options like safari tents, cottage cabins, and even geodesic domes to its overnight lodging menu, while “reimagining” existing cabins through updates and renovations.

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI Peregrine falcons have once again nested and produced eggs at the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie.
Nest boxes have been present on the bridge between Michigan and Canada since 2010. Last year the pair of raptors hatched one chick. The International Bridge Administration says this year the falcons produced three eggs. Thirty chicks have hatched on the bridge since IBA staff started counting years ago.
A team from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources typically bands the birds in mid-summer. That allows scientists to track falcon movements, reproductive behavior and population growth.

LANSING, Mich. - Michigan fishermen should be on the lookout for the next salmon or trout they catch - it could win them a nice bit of cash.
The Department of Natural Resources wants any fishermen to check for a clip on the small fin on the back of fish that have been caught in the Great Lakes. If one is there, it might be worth $100.
Popular fish species like steelhead, Chinook salmon, Atlantic salmon, brown trout, and lake trout have all been tagged by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
