5 more businesses hit with liquor license suspensions in latest pandemic enforcement Oak Cafe via Facebook Oak Cafe in Wyandotte is one of 26 businesses that have seen their liquor licenses suspended since September for violation of state health department orders. The Michigan Liquor Control Commission continues to show it will crack down on any business owner who elects to defy a pandemic-related state order, suspending the liquor licenses and permits of five more businesses in Southeast Michigan. According to a news release, violations include allowing nonresidential, in-person gatherings; providing in-person dining; failure to require face coverings for staff and patrons; and failure to prohibit patrons from congregating.

“No Michigander should worry about how to put food on the table for themselves and their families, especially during a pandemic,” Whitmer said in a statement. “This partnership with our restaurants will ensure people across the state have the support they need this winter.   Called the Restaurant Meal Program (RMP), its goal is to help food assistance program participants who face difficulties in preparing their own meals because of their age, disability, or lack of access to meal preparation facilities. In Michigan, more than 180,000 seniors, 134,000 residents with disabilities, and 1,200 residents experiencing homelessness will be eligible for the RMP program, according to the state agency.
