GoFundMe for Mikayla Miller investigation originally sought $40,000; $50,000-plus has already been raised HOPKINTON The mother of a Hopkinton teenager found dead last month started a GoFundMe last week to raise money for an independent investigation into her daughter’s death - and the fundraiser has already surpassed its goal. Calvina Strothers, mother of 16-year-old Mikayla Miller, also hopes to use the money to start a scholarship in her daughter’s name. The page, created on Thursday, had raised more than $51,000 as of late Sunday afternoon. The original goal was $40,000. More than 1,300 people have donated.  The largest donation is $1,000 and there have been six others of $500.

Our office was notified by Wilmington Police about an allegation against a staff member from the Wildwood Early Childhood Center, the district attorney s spokesperson said in a statement. She had so many basketball games, road trips and HBCU homecomings ahead of her. She deserved childhood uninterrupted.”

She also has alleged Hopkinton police have been hostile toward her and have withheld information from her.
