Cardinals win playoff title, earn NCAA bid - Winona Post > Article

Cardinals win playoff title, earn NCAA bid (5/26/2021) It wasn’t supposed to end this way.  The Saint Mary’s University (SMU) baseball team had its sights set on its first-ever Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoff title and the Cardinals’ first NCAA Division III National Tournament appearance since 1993. If you asked coach Nick Winecke what his favorite number was, he might have answered number one  the number he wore during his playing days at Saint Mary’s University. Following Saturday’s Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Playoff winner-take-all game against the University of St. Thomas (UST), however, Winecke would probably have a different favorite number  29.

Track: Final tune-up leaves Cardinals purring - Winona Post > Article

(5/12/2021) For the Saint Mary’s University track and field teams, Saturday’s St. Olaf Ole Open was the Cardinals’ one final tune-up prior to next weekend’s Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. And if their performances were any indication, the Cardinals are one fine-tuned machine. The Cardinals put together seven first-place finishes and recorded 23 top-five finishes including three top-five showings by both Kyle Lichttenegger and Mirijana Ganley  to place fourth in both the men’s and women’s team standings. Lichttenegger teamed with Noah Anderson, Matt Boone, and Garrett Jackson to win the four-by-100 relay, stopping the clock in 41.62 seconds, before adding third-place showings in the long jump (6.35 meters) and the 200-meter dash (22.17 seconds).
