(KNSI) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says a missing toddler and her sister have been found.
Police say two-year-old Nasteha Yusuf Mohamed and 26-year-old Amina Yusuf Mohamed were located in Syracuse, New York.
The Minneapolis Police Department thanked everyone who helped in the search.

(KNSI) – The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is asking for the public’s help to find a missing toddler after a possible familial abduction.
The BCA says two-year-old Nasteha Yusuf Mohamed and 26-year-old Amina Yusuf Mohamed were last seen just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 3rd at their home in northeast Minneapolis and haven’t been seen since.

John Elder, Director of Public Information of the Minneapolis Police Department, said the child was located safe within the last 60 minutes during a traffic stop in Syracuse, New York. He noted the New York State Police Thruway Patrol stopped 26-year-old Amina Mohamed s vehicle. She was taken into custody while the child was put in protective custody.
Elder said they are actively working on getting the family reunited. He also noted some inaccuracies in Amina s age that were sent out earlier, to which he corrected she is 26, not 27.
Elder said that only one part of the investigation into the 2-year-old s whereabouts pointed them to the east coast, as they initially believed from interviewing those who are close to the older sister and toddler that they may have been heading to Massachusetts to attend a college lecture.

Police say that missing 2-year-old Nasteha Mohamed and her 27-year-old sister Amina have been found safe near Syracuse, New York, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
A missing child alert had been issued Tuesday morning, with Minneapolis police saying they believe the toddler had been taken by her sister Monday, and may have fled the state.

MINNEAPOLIS Minneapolis police say a toddler reported missing and possibly abducted has been found safe in another state.
Police spokesman John Elder told reporters at 11 a.m. that within the last hour an officer with the New York State Police made a traffic stop involving a vehicle that was part of a nationwide alert. Inside was 2-year-old Nasteha Mohamed and her 26-year-old sister, suspected of taking the child without permission.
