MIAMI – City of Miami police detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that left one man dead and two other men injured early Wednesday morning in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood.
The shooting occurred just after 3:30 a.m. near the corner of West Flagler Street and Northwest Eighth Avenue.
Officer Michael Vega, who is also a spokesman for the police department, said officers responded to a ShotSpotter call that alerted to several rounds being fired in the area.
He said officers arrived at the scene to find three shooting victims.
He said one man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The defense contended that the now-fired white officer acted reasonably and that the 46-year-old Floyd died of a heart condition and illegal drug use.
1 killed, 6 injured in hit-and-run crash in northwest Miami-Dade

The crash occurred in the area of Northwest 119th Street and 22nd Avenue.
According to Detective Alvaro Zabaleta, who is also a spokesman for the police department, six passengers from one vehicle were taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
He said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported one other person inside the vehicle to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition. That person died at the hospital a short time later.
Zabaleta said the driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled the area.
In the second incident on April 10
th, the suspect allegedly stole the purse from an 82-year-old woman as she tried to enter her home near NW 11
th Avenue and 32
nd Street. The two struggled and the woman fell down two steps onto the sidewalk outside her home while the suspect fled the scene.
Police did not say if either victim was injured.
The suspect is said to be between 30 and 40 years old and is approximately 5’10” tall while weighing between 150 and 180 pounds. During the April 2
nd incident, he was wearing a black hat and black mask along with a polo shirt and black pants.
Miami Shores police search for those involved in 2 home burglaries

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Miami Shores police are searching for the culprits who broke into two homes earlier this year.
The incidents occurred the afternoon of Jan. 19, but police released surveillance video related to the crimes on Friday.
According to a news release from the police department, a woman who lives on 102nd Street was inside her home around 3 p.m. that day when she heard a noise.
She told officers that she went to investigate and saw a Hispanic man inside her home.
The woman screamed and the man ran out the back door.
