MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) â Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune is extending the cityâs COVID-19 civil emergency declaration through the month of May, city leaders said.
âWe have seen improvements in the number of COVID-19 cases locally, thanks to many residents receiving one of the vaccines, but the health emergency caused by the global pandemic continues,â a Friday morning post on the cityâs Facebook page states. âThis declaration serves as a reminder that we must remain vigilant with our health and safety protocols if we are to overcome COVID-19.â

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) - As tourism season draws near, Myrtle Beach city leaders want visitors to stay vigilant despite the stateâs decision to lift COVID-19 restrictions.
Recently, Governor Henry McMaster changed a face mask mandate for restaurants to a recommendation. While the governorâs order no longer requires face masks in restaurants, thereâs still a mask mandate in Myrtle Beach.
During a city council meeting on Tuesday, Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune said sheâs somewhat concerned people, particularly visitors, wonât acknowledge the cityâs mask requirement.
