Foxconn deal with Wisconsin lowers tax breaks to $80 million

MADISON, Wis. - Foxconn Technology Group will be eligible for just $80 million in taxpayer subsidies under a new contract signed Tuesday, down from nearly $3 billion it could have received under the original deal that envisioned a much larger project in southeastern Wisconsin.
Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, who ran in 2018 as a critic of the deal that his Republican predecessor struck with the world’s largest electronics manufacturer, announced details of the new contract after it was approved by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. during a closed session. The last deal didn’t work for Wisconsin, and that doesn’t work for me, Evers said. A 65-year-old Milwaukee man died in a crash on the north side about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Police said a car attempting to pass a tractor-trailer in the 3200 block of West Fond du Lac Avenue traveled between the semi and a parked Milwaukee County Transit System bus and collided with the tractor-trailer. The collision pushed the trailer into the eastbound lane and a vehicle driven by the 65-year-old man collided with the trailer, police said.
No other details about the crash were released.

Woman arrested for OWI following high-speed crash, vehicle fire

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. - A 44-year-old Cudahy woman was transported to the hospital with serious injuries following a crash on I-41 in Washington County Tuesday morning, April 20. Following the crash, her vehicle caught on fire. She was arrested for first offense drug OWI.
According to the Washington County Sheriff s Office, a deputy was running radar around 1:30 a.m. on I-41 approximately ½ mile south of State Highway 33 when he observed a vehicle traveling southbound on I-41 at an excessive speed. The deputy obtained a speed reading of 104 mph on the radar.

MILWAUKEE - A 65-year-old man died from injuries suffered in a crash near 32nd and Fond du Lac Avenue in Milwaukee on Tuesday morning, April 20.
Officials say around 10:30 a.m., while attempting to pass a tractor-trailer between the tractor-trailer and a parked Milwaukee County bus, a vehicle collided with the semi, pushing the trailer into the eastbound lane where it collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the eastbound vehicle, a 65-year-old man from Milwaukee, suffered fatal injuries.
