“I thank the Holy Father Pope Francis for his trust in entrustng to my care the Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay in Palawan,” he said during the Pope Day’s Mass at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Monday, June 29.
“It is one of the biggest ecclesiastical jurisdictions within the Metropolitan of Manila. Barely 19 years old and I would say the poorest in terms of material resources as church. It is also challenging in terms of the location of the Christian communities crossing mountains and seas to reach them. In a word, it’s a mission territory,” added Pabillo.

Aside from bringing the Good News to others, a Catholic prelate has challenged the faithful to rediscover their faith this Year of Missio Ad Gentes (Mission to All Nations).
Caceres Archbishop Rolando Tirona explained that the first step in taking up the challenge of bringing the Good News is “to renew once again our understanding of the faith.”

He added that faith in Jesus is the greatest gift to Filipino Catholics. The prelate lamented that while most Catholics are “sacramentalized but not fully evangelized.”

In his Christmas message whicu was posted by the Pontificio Collegio Filippino on their Facebook page Wednesday, Tagle said they are far away from home not only to earn a living but also to be missionaries.
“Isn’t it perhaps that God has guided us out of the Philippines, not only to earn a living, but also to be missionaries?” said the former Manila archbishop.
“We can ask ourselves: who among my family or friends or co-workers can I bring closer to Jesus today? How can I help them discover Jesus coming to us, not only this Christmas but each day, in our prayers, the people we meet and the ordinary events of our life?” added Tagle.
