By MLF Communications Staff Major League Fishing (MLF) will kick off the 2021 Pro Circuit season this week at Lake Okeechobee. In its 26th season, the circuit formerly known as the FLW Tour will feature 163 professionals competing across six regular-season events, each with a top award of up to $135,000. The field will also compete for points to qualify for the 2021 TITLE (the Pro Circuit Championship) and the opportunity to compete for up to $235,000.

Registration begins for Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open Wednesday, February 10, 2021    Registration for the first three regional qualifiers for the Bass Pro Shops U.S. Open – Lake Okeechobee, Fla. (March 13); Lake Ray Roberts, Texas (April 17); and Lake Mead, Nev. (April 24) – opened today at basspro.com/usopen. Registration will be open for 24 hours only and allows amateur anglers to be entered in a drawing to compete as one of 250 two-person teams in regional qualifying events this spring. Bass Pro Shops last week announced the first-of its-kind amateur team tournament with a total guaranteed purse of $4.3 million. With proceeds benefitting conservation and the future of fishing, the event is exclusively for amateurs who own a Tracker, Ranger, Nitro, Triton, Sun Tracker, Tahoe or MAKO boat. The Top 40 finishers from each regional qualifier will be eligible to fish the National Championship this fall at Big Cedar Lodge on Table Rock Lake in Missouri.

Bass University co-founder Pete Gluszek honed his craft on the grass-filled waters of the Upper Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, where thick grass often holds the largest populations of fish. There are several ways to extract them, but he believes that when the greenery is at its thickest, almost nothing can consistently compete with punching a creature bait. “It’s such a great way to fish to catch big ones, to win a tournament if you’re a tournament guy, or even catch the biggest fish of your life,” he said.
