Two arrests were made between January 5-6, 2021, in relation to the investigation into the death of Tamara Benoit (Norman).
Benoit was reported missing to the Winnipeg Police Service on July 10, 2020, and was last seen in the Portage la Prairie and Long Plain First Nation area on May 23, 2020. On September 3, 2020, Manitoba First Nation Police Service located human remains near Cottonwood Drive in the RM of Portage la Prairie. The remains were identified as the 36-year-old woman.

A 37-year-old man from the Long Plain First Nation has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection to the murder of Tamara Norman Benoit, 36, who was last seen in May and reported missing in July.
Her body was discovered near Cottonwood Drive in the RM of Portage la Prairie on Sept. 3.

On Thursday, RCMP announced that Ryan Peters, 37, from the Long Plain First Nation, had been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and accessory after the fact. A 15-year-old Winnipeg boy was also arrested in the matter, but released without charges.
