Aziz Bendour: Jacksonville police open investigation into man s death

The death of a 55-year-old man three months after an Oct. 9 battery has homicide investigators seeking information on who attacked him, the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office announced Wednesday. Officers were called about 2:45 a.m. on a report of a battery in the 1200 block of University Boulevard North, just north of the Arlington Expressway, the Sheriff s Office said. They found Aziz Bendour suffering from serious injuries, and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Bendour died on Jan. 7, 2021, as a result of the injuries he sustained in the attack, the Sheriff s Office said Wednesday. No other details have been released, although the Times-Union has requested the incident report.

Jacksonville police say a man died after a house fire

Sheriff s Office homicide detectives are investigating the fatality as an undetermined death.  The victim was found about 1:15 p.m. by firefighters after they extinguished the house fire in the 1900 block of Erline Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Sheriff s Office Sgt. Adam Blinn said. Police said it appeared the fire started in the kitchen. The cause of the man s death and the cause of the fire were not immediately known. Blinn said the Medical Examiner Office will try to determine how the man died. The Florida State Fire Marshal s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, he said.

Man found dead from multiple gunshots at Jacksonville apartments

A man s body was discovered early Thursday riddled with bullets outside an apartment complex on Shenandoah Avenue, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff s Office said. Officers were called to the La Estancia apartments off Old Kings Road and Edgewood Avenue about 7:45 a.m. and located the man near some air-conditioning units between some of the buildings, Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said. He was in his early 30s and was shot multiple times. Our investigation revealed that several residents in the apartments heard gunfire around 4 a.m., however 911 was not called, Rudlaff said. . We are trying to talk to some of the witnesses. There is a potential unidentified individual who left the scene. We do not know that individual had any injuries.
