A LITE-FM Christmas Wish for Craig

Throughout Christmas Wish season, we ve shared a few stories about single moms who went from just barely holding things together for their families to being in need of an extra hand up when the pandemic hit. This morning, we met a single dad with a similar story.
Emily introduced us to her brother-in-law, Craig, who s raising four teenagers on his own. As a single parent, the holidays always put a pinch on his finances but this year has been exceptionally hard. He ended up losing his car and was unemployed for a little while. He recently started a new job, but is walking to and from work every day.

A few days ago, we were reading through our newest Christmas Wish nominations when we stumbled across a story that felt really familiar. When we read Tyffani s children s names we knew exactly why! Earlier this spring while we were out on the birthday parade circuit, we got invited to Bella s sixth birthday parade. Her daddy had just been in a motorcycle accident and the only way she d been able to see him was over video chat.
The motorcycle community rallied together for one of the biggest parades we d been part of. Someone also mentioned that Bella happened to be a big fan of Harley Quinn. LITE-FM happens to be very good friends with Harley, so we got her to tag along too.

Welcoming a new baby is such an exciting time for the family, but when that little one arrives much earlier than expected it can be a really scary time as well. Angel was a born a micro preemie and after the first seven months of his life, he s now at home with his large family. He s the youngest of 11 children and seems to be fitting in well with his siblings.
While he s home, he s not totally out of the woods. He still requires multiple medical specialists and his mom, Wendy, hasn t been able to work because the last thing she wants is to be exposed to COVID-19 and bring it home to her medically fragile baby.

We met the recipient of our fourth Christmas Wish of Miracle Marathon Day through her mom. This elf told us that her daughter is a domestic violence survivor and earlier this year, things had escalated to a point where her life was in serious danger. Our Wish recipient went through some incredibly crazy things to keep herself and her children safe until her abuser was apprehended.
She s had to relocated and is having a hard time getting back on her feet as she starts over. Despite the fact that she s struggling with her own finances, she still went out of her way to find resources for another family who was also struggling this Christmas.

Thanks to the generosity of our LITE-FM listeners, we re going to set all kinds of records during Christmas Wish Miracle Marathon Day 2020. This year s goal is to up the total wishes granted to 15 and we think we ll do it just after 6 o clock.
Another record we re setting today? Welcoming the youngest elf ever to the Christmas Wish family. Anderson met Kya in the fourth grade. Not only did the kids become fast friends, the two of them also had little brothers who were both five years old. Talk about the world s most perfect playdates!
