What to know about Nueces County COVID vaccine clinics this week

The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District will hold two COVID-19 vaccination drive-thru clinics this week. The health district said Sunday that it would receive a shipment of 5,500 Moderna vaccine doses this week. The supplies arrived Monday. Five thousand doses will be given at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds on Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. Those doses will all be given on Tuesday so state officials can test the vaccination system’s capacity. There will be no online pre-registration; all registration will be done on site. On Friday, 500 doses will be given to people who received their first shot at the health district’s drive-thru clinic on Dec. 29. Public health director Annette Rodriguez said 537 people were given their first shots during that clinic.

The literary magazine is a way to encourage creativity and leadership among our students. Labor and Economic Opportunity Michigan Community Service Commission supporting 56 MLK Day Projects The Michigan Community Service Commission today announced it will help support 56 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service volunteer projects engaging more than 5,000 volunteers who will serve more than 16,000 volunteer hours to benefit Michigan communities. Projects include providing child-size masks to youth serving organizations and thanking healthcare workers for the care given to Michigan residents. Organizations have also planned projects to address community needs related to COVID-19 including food distribution events, providing support for the homeless, addressing mental health needs and providing education and tools to prevent the spread of infection.

Jan 6, 2021 ESCANABA Rita Rose Miller, age 90, of Escanaba passed away on Saturday January 2, 2021 peacefully with family by her side. Rita was born June 16, 1930 in Escanaba the daughter of Leslie “Pat” and Elvira (Campbell) Miller. She attended Alverno College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and received a teaching degree. She taught first and second grade throughout her teaching career, which included St. Ann’s of Escanaba. She also taught CCD classes in the local area. Her love for children led her to a career with the Girl Scout organization as a field director in Upper and Lower Michigan. During her time with the Girl Scouts she ran many day camps and specialized camp experiences. Locally, many events were held at Camp Wi He Tonga in Brampton, often partnering with the Boy Scouts.
