The Railways authorioties have decided to cancel some special trains temporarily owing to slump in the occupancy ration in view of the sharp spike in coronavirus infections.
Train no. 08516 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul special express will be cancelled from May 7 to 21 and 08515 Kirandul- Visakhapatnam special express will be cancelled from May 8 to 22.
Train no. 08445 Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur special express will not ply between May 8 and 22 and in the return direction 08446 Jagdalpur- Visakhapatnam special express will be cancelled from May 9 to 23.
Train no.02708 Tirupati-Visakhapatnam double-decker special express will be cancelled from May 7 to 30 and 02707 Visakhapatnam-Tirupati Double Decker special express from May 8 to 31, said A.K. Tripathi, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway (ECoR). Similarly, train no.02784 Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam special express will be cancelled

Due to steep rise in coronavirus infection leading to poor patronisation, train no. 08417/ 08418 Puri-Gunupur-Puri special trains are cancelled.
Train no. 08417 Puri- Gunupur special train is being cancelled with effect from May 5 and 08418 Gunupur- Puri special train will be cancelled with effect from May 6, according to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager A.K. Tripathi.
In view of safety-related modernisation works, bridge rebuilding works in Sambalpur Division of East Coast Railway, 08528 Visakhapatnam-Raipur special, leaving Visakhapatnam on May 5, and 08527 Raipur-Visakhapatnam special, leaving Raipur on May 5 are cancelled.
Public are requested to bear with the administration as these modernisation works are essential for safety enhancement and passenger comfort.
Palakkad rail division ships power tillers to Assam

546 power tillers were manufactured at KAMCO
The Palakkad division of Southern Railway made the first shipment of power tillers from Palakkad to Assam during the current financial year on Friday.
Jerin G Anand, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Palakkad, told
BusinessLine that the division loaded 546 power tillers manufactured at the Kanjikode unit of the Kerala Agro Machinery Corporation (KAMCO) Ltd to Changsari near Guwahati.
He said the power tillers should reach their destination in four-five days. It would require more than 10 days, if these power tillers are transported by road. Additionally, road transportation requires transhipments at some points, he said.

The Mysuru division of South Western Railway on Friday began COVID-19 vaccination programme at the workplace to its employees who are aged 45 years and above and other eligible frontline workforce.
The immunisation programme began at the Divisional Railway Manager’s office in Mysuru. All the employees were registered online before vaccine was administered and all the safety protocols were followed during the rogramme.
Similar vaccination drives are being held in major workplaces and in stations including Shivamogga, Harihar, Arsikere, and Sakleshpur.
