Meanwhile in Queensland, there is one new local case in home quarantine as the state declares Victoria a hotspot, meaning anyone from that state will need a travel exemption and have to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.
Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp says Victorians need support from both the federal and state governments to deal with the “financial hardship” and “emotional and mental anguish” which are caused by lockdowns.
“It was very flat yesterday, there is a sense of despondency,” she said.
“But today is another day and Victorians keep lifting their heads and focussing on what we can do to make a difference and get ourselves open as quickly as possible.

“It is one of the reasons why we are calling for support from both levels of government because in these very uncertain times, ways that we can provide certainty … gives relief to the financial hardship, the emotional and mental anguish that happens as a result of these lockdowns”.
