West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday visited areas affected by post-poll violence in Cooch Behar. He went ahead with the visit despite Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressing her disapproval, calling it “unilateral proceedings” by the Governor which is “violative of long-standing norms of procedures”. Senior Trinamool Congress leaders on Thursday sharply criticised the Governor’s move.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 14 (ANI): West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar will visit a camp in Assam sheltering people from West Bengal, who crossed over to the State to escape post-poll violence.
In a tweet by Dhankar s office, it read, WB Governor Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar will be visiting Ranpagli camp in Assam sheltering post-poll violence affected WB people. He will interact with those who have taken refuge in camp. Governor will reach Ranpagli, Assam on May 14 at 8.15 am by BSF Helicopter from Coochbehar.
Ruling Trinamool Congress hit out at West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar today for his decision to visit areas affected by violence after the announcement of the state assembly poll result.
The party, which has shared an acrimonious relation with Dhankhar since its previous term in the government when he assumed office in July 2019, also flayed him saying he is behaving in a manner unbecoming of one holding the gubernatorial post.

Dhankhar took to Twitter to inform about his visit to the camps. Governor WB Jagdeep Dhankhar will be visiting Ranpagli and Srirampur camps in Assam where due to post-poll retributive violence @MamataOfficial some people of WB had taken refuge for safety. Governor Dhankhar will be reaching Ranpagli Assam at 9.45 am by BSF Helicopter, the Governor tweeted.
