EIGHT people have been injured in a crash which closed the A49 between Hereford and Shrewsbury for several hours – with one man left in a serious condition. A police spokesperson said the road was closed after the crash, which happened between the All Stretton turn and Church Stretton junction over the border in Shropshire just after 7pm on Saturday (May 15). West Midlands Ambulance Service was at the scene of the two-car crash, along with West Mercia Police and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, and eight people were injured. Three ambulances, three paramedic officers, specialist trauma doctor and critical care paramedic all attended, with the driver of one car left in a serious condition.

Paramedics assessed two teenage boys - with one taken to hospital - after being called to reports of a stabbing in a village.

A man has suffered potentially serious injuries following a fire in a garden.
The air ambulance was dispatched to a property off Weston Road in Meir just before 12.40pm this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service says an ambulance, paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

A fire investigation is underway this afternoon after emergency services were called to a shed fire in Stoke-on-Trent.
Fire crews were called to the blaze on Henderson Grove, in Meir, at around 12.30pm today (May 17).
