The Latest: Colorado man in his 20s has variant of viru

DENVER A Colorado man in his 20s has been reported as the first in the U.S. with the more contagious variant of the coronavirus. Taipei, Dec. 30 (CNA) The local governments in Taoyuan, Tainan, Taichung, Keelung, Chiayi and Kaohsiung cities have decided against audiences at their respective New Year s Eve celebrations, citing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, and instead will live stream the shows, they said Wednesday. The decision to not allow live audiences at the celebrations followed a report earlier in the day by the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) of a Taiwanese teenager who was confirmed to be infected with a new variant of the COVID-19 virus after his recent return from the United Kingdom.
